Meetings sponsored by the NZSSA

Organiser: Alison Stewart, acestewart28@gmail.com

These opportunities are provided for people involved with reprocessing reusable medical devices in any health service organization.  Health service organizations include but are not restricted to hospitals, private practice clinics, general practice clinics, dental, tattoo and skin piercing studios, beauty therapy clinics.

The NZSSA will be providing these opportunities to Association members at no cost (except NZSSA conference for which registration is reduced for members). This is in recognition of the member’s annual fee being returned to education.  Non-members will be required to pay a nominal registration fee for the leaders meetings and regional seminar to aid in the covering of costs for their attendance.  Non-members pay a premium registration for the NZSSA conference).

The following education opportunities organized and facilitated by the Association in 2017 are:

Leaders meetings

One in the South Island and one in the North Island.  these meetings are targeted at the person leading reprocessing of medical devices at an operational and strategic level.  There are many designations but if you have responsibility for running the service, coordinating or supporting staff then this meeting is for you.  Each meeting will have a speaker presenting on a key topic and the remainder of the day will be focused on discussion on operational issues and networking.

Saturday 29 July 2017, Auckland

The programme for the day and venue are being finalised. Facilitator on the day is Kevin Green

Regional Seminar

This meeting will be an all-day meeting held in an area where attendance of education events is usually costly and time consuming.  this seminar is for everyone involved in reprocessing reusable medical devices and wishing to attend.  this seminar will be structured with speakers presenting on key issues relating to reprocessing of medical devices, accreditation and the standards.

NZSSA Regional Seminar 2017, Saturday 20 May, Emerald Hotel, Gisborne

This seminar went really well. We had a small turn out but it was great to see the local team and have an excellent discussion to resolve issues. Thank you very much to Tony Hampton of Getinge who gave of his time to present on sterilisers and the testing of them. Also thank you to Alison Stewart and Debbie Wallace for the time they put into pulling the day together.

The 2018 seminar will be in the South Island so if you would like to put forward your area to host it let Alison Stewart know.

NZSSA Annual Conference

The Association was formed in 1974 and made a commitment to each year bring together a trade exhibition and international and national presenters to bring the world of medical device processing to the members doorstep.  The annual General Meeting of the Association is also held during the conference.  this means members have a great opportunity to have their input into the business of the Association while continuing their education.
