Technician Registration Project
PROJECT: Registration of NZSSA
Technicians with the future
Education, Excellence of practice and keeping the public, who use
our service, safe from harm
AIM: The NZSSA to become a
Regulated Profession under the HPCA Act.
Sub Committee: Jill Parker and Marilyn Clark
Over the last few decades our Profession has become
more specialized and technical. We expect more from our Technicians
in the work place, and the public expects more from us.
The Association has always promoted on going education,
excellence of practice and safety from harm for the end users of
our service. Ways of achieving both are now required. By becoming
regulated under the HPCA Act we will achieve our goals. At present
this project is in the information gathering and education stage
of the exercise.
To become a regulated profession under the HPCA Act
a lot of work will have to be undertaken. There are many steps/processes
and requirements, but if as a profession we can achieve this, we
will achieve our goals.
Our first step is to set up a roll for Registered
Technicians.
Over the last few months Marilyn Clark and Jill Parker
have been working on the criteria for the roll, and this will be
published in Supplyline. They also will be presenting
a short paper at Conference 2006 on what they are trying to achieve,
and the process that must be undertaken. There will be a chance
to ask questions at the end of the presentation.
More information will be posted on the Website
as the process continues.
